Release 1.12

Release 1.12

The first minute with a new app decides a lot. You open it, you're greeted by an empty screen, and you're left guessing where to start — and if saving something takes more than a couple of taps, it quietly never becomes a habit. Release 1.12 starts right there. The first time you open Edicek on iPhone, a short walkthrough shows you what you can save, how to add Edicek to your favourites in the share sheet so it's always one tap away, and how chat brings your saved cards back when you need them. Already using Edicek? You'll see it once after this update too, and you can skip it any time.

The share sheet, where most of you meet Edicek several times a day, got a little rework as well — and a brand new animation. Saving used to mean a spinner first and a confirmation after it. Now it's one continuous motion: a small stack of paper drops into place, and the tick lands on top the moment your card is saved. Ideally, you never see anything that looks like loading at all.

Safari Extension gets a new look too. Click the Edicek icon in the toolbar and the extension's popup is now almost a perfect match for the share sheet on your iPhone and iPad, with the same hand-made paper feel as the rest of Edicek. How it saves hasn't changed: the page you're on, together with the line you write about why it matters.

Then there are the pop-up alerts. Renaming a chat, deleting a card, editing your name or applying a coupon used to happen in the standard system alert. It did its job, but it held us back: it only fits a couple of plain buttons and a text field, and whenever there were more options, they blurred into one grey list. Now it all happens in a sheet of our own, sliding up from the bottom on iPhone and sitting in the middle of the window on Mac. If something goes wrong, the sheet stays open with your text still in it, so you can simply try again.

A few smaller things round it out. A handful of fixes and bits of polish went in across iPhone, iPad and Mac, the kind you won't spot one by one but should feel as a whole. And the chat input no longer changes its look when you tap into it — we thought that was a clever bit of design, but honestly, we overengineered it.
